Facts on "Burying the Deductible"
From time to time, we are faced with request from car owners to "bury the deductible" when automobile damage is covered insurance.
We can advise that before a vehicle owner takes the damaged car to someone who will partake in this practice, they should consider the following points:
- Conspiring to bury the deductible is committing a fraud upon an insurance company and is against the law in most areas.
- Insurance companies know the cost of repairs and cannot be fooled by inflated estimates.
- If a shop agrees to bury the deductible, they will have to take short cuts in making the repairs and the owner could get a second-rate job. Should this occur, the owner has no one to complain to as he to conspired to "bury the deductible"
- A body shop willing to cheat an insurance company will be equally willing to cheat the car owner. The value would be taken right out of the job and it is the car owner who takes the loss.
The smart choice for the vehicle owner is to protect their investment by getting a first-class job from a first-class shop and be glad that all they have to pay is the deductible.
Thank you for respecting our integrity and taking the time to understand this sensitive subject as we cannot alter deductibles without insurance company instructions.
